Mechanical Superintendent

Job Duties
Managing on-site mechanical construction.
Ensuring projects meet safety and quality standards,
Scheduling targets by coordinating crews, subcontractors, materials, and equipment and interpreting plans
enforcing codes (OSHA, MSHA), controlling costs, and reporting progress to management.
Bridging field operations with project leadership.
Act as the key link between workers, foremen, engineers, and upper management,
Solving issues and driving efficient execution for profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight:
Direct daily mechanical operations, interpreting blueprints/specs for installation of HVAC, plumbing, piping, or industrial systems.
Safety & Quality:
Conduct daily hazard briefings, enforce OSHA/company safety rules, and implement QA/QC procedures (inspections, testing).
Coordination:
Liaise with general contractors, engineers, subs, and vendors; coordinate mechanical work with civil/electrical trades.
Resource Management:
Forecast manpower, assign crews, manage material delivery/storage, and track equipment usage.
Cost & Schedule:
Assist with budgeting, track labor/costs, ensure accurate timekeeping, and report progress.
Leadership:
Mentor staff, resolve conflicts, and promote company values, ensuring performance aligns with contract goals.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Strong background in mechanical systems (Welding, Piping, etc.) with 5 years site experience.
Ability to read plans, specs, and technical documents.
Excellent communication, diplomacy, and problem‑solving skills.
Knowledge of construction management, industry standards, and relevant codes.
Proficiency in MS Office, familiarity with project management software.
Perform welding operations using techniques such as MIG, TIG, Stick, or Flux‑Cored welding
5 years' welding experience with certifications, plus 5 years' on‑site maintenance experience
Pipe, and structural welding experience is a must.
Will help doing other maintenance tasks, pumps, gaskets, scaffolding
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols
Measure, cut, fit, and assemble metal components accurately
Inspect completed welds for quality, strength, and compliance with specifications
Operate welding equipment, tools, and machinery safely and efficiently
Maintain welding equipment and ensure proper functionality
Follow all safety protocols, OSHA, MSHA standards, and company procedures
Repair and rework welds as required
Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and team members to meet production goals
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Valid welding certification (AWS, ASME, or equivalent)
High school diploma or GED preferred
Proven experience as a PM and Welder
Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints
Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and safety practices
Good hand‑eye coordination and attention to detail
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift weight up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working in various positions (kneeling, bending, overhead welding)
Able to work in hot, noisy, or confined environments.
Work Environment
Manufacturing, construction, or industrial setting.
Exposure to welding fumes, sparks, and heavy equipment.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
Pay Rate:
$35.00-$45.00 DOE
