Michigandems
The Political Director will work closely with the Chair to manage scheduling, build and maintain relationships with MDP stakeholders and partners, and advise on ongoing projects and initiatives. The Political Director will report to the MDP Chair.
The Political Director is a member of the IBEW Local 1106.
Responsibilities
Manage and maintain scheduling of the Chair’s event calendar.
Act as primary political advisor for the Chair and fellow senior leaders.
Build relationships with key stakeholders including elected officials, Party leaders, grassroots activists, and others, working to align their interests with the Party’s and resolve conflict.
Partner with State Legislative Caucuses and Project 83 organizing team on candidate recruitment and bench building.
Coordinate political outreach with other departments, particularly Communications and Organizing.
Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion.
Requirements
Excellent organizational and time management skills
At least 3 years of political experience
At least two cycles of campaign experience
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with a variety of audiences and stakeholders
Proficiency with Google Workspace tools
Frequent travel may be required
The applicant must be willing to work in a fast-paced campaign environment. Periodically long hours are required
