Job Summary
The Programs Specialist supports the planning, preparation, and implementation of library programs with a primary emphasis on
adult audiences . This role works closely with branch staff, community partners, and presenters to deliver high-quality programs that align with MCL’s strategic priorities and create welcoming, meaningful experiences for our community. Programs may include author talks, workshops, lectures, cultural events, lifelong-learning opportunities, and outreach programs offered at library branches, off-site locations, and online. What You’ll Do
Plan, coordinate, and support adult programs across multiple library locations Prepare materials, coordinate presenters, and assist with program logistics Present and support programs in person, off-site, and virtually Partner with community organizations to expand outreach and engagement Support large system-wide initiatives and special events Assist with program promotion, merchandising, and use of the online events calendar Provide guidance or training to staff related to program planning and delivery Represent MCL at community events, festivals, and outreach activities Work collaboratively across branches and departments to meet program goals Minimum Qualifications
Associate of Arts degree (or equivalent education and experience) Two years of clerical or program-related experience; library experience preferred Valid Washington State driver’s license Ability to work some evenings and travel to other branches Ability to promote a culture of belonging by supporting MCL's commitment to a Healthy Workplace
