Project Manager – R&D Strategy and Operations Portfolio Manager
Remote Role
Compensation: $75-80/hr
ABOUT THE ROLE Our Client is seeking a Project Manager – R&D Strategy and Operations Portfolio Manager for a 12-month contract role with potential for extension. In this pivotal position, you will be responsible for monitoring progress against impact and financial targets across a diverse portfolio of projects, escalating risks and trade-offs as needed. You will serve as an operational partner to assigned leadership team members, supporting strategic and business planning processes, and ensuring organizational priorities are met. The role requires governing recurring team meetings, overseeing and executing key projects and programs, consolidating insights for senior leadership, maintaining consistency in project management standards, and facilitating collaboration across matrix teams. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in project management or operations leadership within healthcare, technology, or data science environments, and possess strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Monitor progress against defined impact and financial targets across a portfolio of projects, escalating risks and trade-offs as needed.
Act as an operational partner to assigned leadership team members, supporting strategic and business planning processes.
Govern recurring team meetings, ensuring agendas, decisions, and follow-ups align with organizational priorities.
Oversee and execute key projects and programs, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder alignment.
Consolidate insights and provide recommendations to the Strategy & Operations Director and Senior Director for decision-making and prioritization.
Maintain consistency in project management standards and reporting across all project management leads (PMLs).
Facilitate collaboration across matrix teams to ensure high performance and accelerated timelines.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, or related field.
7+ years of experience in project management or operations leadership within healthcare, technology, or data science environments.
Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.
Strong proficiency in project management tools (Wrike, MS Project, or similar).
Exceptional organizational, communication, and executive presentation skills.
PMP or equivalent certification (preferred).
Experience acting as an operational partner or chief of staff to senior leadership (preferred).
Familiarity with financial planning and governance processes (preferred).
