The Senior Director of Operations leads and elevates operational performance for Papa Johns across the Northeast region. This role provides strategic oversight, coaching, and execution support to Area Directors and their markets, ensuring consistent operational excellence, people development, financial performance, and brand execution across all corporate restaurants in the region. The Senior Director will travel regularly throughout the six-state territory and serve as a key strategic partner in driving growth, culture, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Leadership & Strategy

  • Set and drive regional operational goals that align with Papa Johns’ brand standards and business objectives.
  • Partner with corporate leadership to implement strategic initiatives, performance metrics, and best practices across the Northeast.
  • Oversee compliance with company policies, quality standards, guest experience expectations, and legal requirements across all markets.

Area Director Oversight

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of 5 direct reports (Area Directors).
  • Ensure Area Directors are equipped to coach and support their General Managers and restaurant leadership teams.
  • Provide regular performance feedback, professional development opportunities, and succession planning support.

Operational Excellence & Field Engagement

  • Conduct regular field visits across all Northeast markets, ensuring execution of operational plans, quality control, and guest experience standards.
  • Use data and insights to identify performance trends, opportunities, and risks; implement corrective and growth plans as needed.
  • Advise and support Area Directors in driving sales, controlling costs, and maximizing profitability while maintaining brand standards.

Culture, Talent & Development

  • Champion a people-first culture focused on leadership development, retention, and engagement throughout the region.
  • Promote consistent onboarding, training, and coaching frameworks that strengthen leadership capability and operational execution.

Communication & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Serve as the primary regional liaison between corporate leadership, Area Directors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate priorities, changes, and performance updates clearly and effectively across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Proven leadership experience in multi-unit operations, preferably within QSR or pizza/delivery concepts.
  • Strong track record of developing leaders and driving operational performance across diverse markets.
  • Ability to travel frequently across the Northeast region.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and coaching skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
