What Does an OB/GYN Hospitalist Do?
- Care for all pregnant women who present emergently
- Cultivate relationships with staff and hospital personnel
- Support private practice physicians by providing coverage and assistance
- Care for unassigned patients
- Evaluate and treat triage patients
- Provide consultation to the ED
- Monitor labor and deliver babies
- Perform surgery and surgical assists
- Evaluate and treat postpartum patients
- Assist with OB residents and medical student education
- Provide nurse support and education
- Participate in emergency drills and simulations
- Develop best practices
- Participate in clinical trials
- Facilitate daily interdisciplinary board rounds to improve patient safety
