What Does an OB/GYN Hospitalist Do?

  • Care for all pregnant women who present emergently
  • Cultivate relationships with staff and hospital personnel
  • Support private practice physicians by providing coverage and assistance
  • Care for unassigned patients
  • Evaluate and treat triage patients
  • Provide consultation to the ED
  • Monitor labor and deliver babies
  • Perform surgery and surgical assists
  • Evaluate and treat postpartum patients
  • Assist with OB residents and medical student education
  • Provide nurse support and education
  • Participate in emergency drills and simulations
  • Develop best practices
  • Participate in clinical trials
  • Facilitate daily interdisciplinary board rounds to improve patient safety
