Job Summary

The Masters of Science in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MSEI) is a one‑year graduate program in the School of Management (SOM) at the University of San Francisco (USF). It blends traditional graduate instruction with an innovation and entrepreneurship practicum‑focused design, including entrepreneurial internship placements, new venture launches conducted by students, and business immersion trips. The MSEI is STEM certified and is ranked as a top graduate program in entrepreneurship in the U.S.

The Program Director (PD) leads all program functions, ensuring excellence and a high‑quality student experience. The PD works directly with teaching faculty, the dean, associate deans, and graduate division staff on program delivery, administration, and development. The PD is an advocate for the program, representing it internally and externally, and manages all aspects of student recruitment, retention, and support.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Program Administration

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with companies throughout the Bay Area to identify and directly place MSEI students in curriculum‑based internships and projects.
  • Lead, inspire, and direct MSEI students in all aspects of program and professional development.
  • Develop and implement marketing and enrollment strategies for the MSEI program, closely working with the Graduate Admissions and Recruiting Unit staff.
  • Conduct regular meetings with part‑time faculty, the MSEI Academic Committee, and other MSEI teaching faculty to discuss programmatic topics and share updates.
  • Consult and collaborate with the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs on all aspects of the program.
  • Ensure the flow of critical information between graduate student affairs, recruitment and admissions, program faculty, associate deans and the dean.
  • Solicit and submit program budget requests to the Dean’s Office.
  • Liaise between the program and other campus and community constituencies.

Student Recruitment and Retention

  • Recruit new students and communicate and meet with prospective students.
  • Review new MSEI student applications, interview them when necessary, and propose admissions and scholarship decisions to MSEI faculty.
  • Work on materials and processes that promote recruitment and retention of graduate students in conjunction with the Dean’s Office.
  • Ensure the currency of all promotional literature, program website, catalog copy and degree checklists.
  • Represent the program at informational meetings, new student orientations and other events as needed.
  • Communicate and meet with alumni.

Program Curriculum and Courses

  • Teach and manage the MSEI Practicum course (once a year, two sections), which involves recruiting 30+ companies and ensuring high‑quality internships and projects, matching, documenting, and facilitating relationships.
  • Work with the MSEI Academic Committee and other MSEI teaching faculty for the development and review of the program curriculum including learning objectives.
  • Develop the MSEI course schedule.
  • Align program goals and learning outcomes with those of SOM.
  • Maintain an active and current knowledge of trends in the field andобав propose guidance accordingly.
  • Conduct and report on assurance of learning, program review and accreditation in conjunction with the Dean’s Office.

Student Support

  • Advise students on all aspects of the MSEI program and professional responsibilities.

  • Collect, organize, and securely maintain files of student internships and all necessary documentation for 30-40 external organization clients.
  • Provide direct support, including workshops, for the entrepreneurial ventures that students develop and launch each year.
  • Organize and facilitate company visits, follow up with clients, prepare materials for visits, and conduct post‑visit follow‑ups.
  • Develop and execute New MSEI Student Orientation and other student events including the yearly Internship Fair in October, working with the Office of Graduate Student Success and Engagement.
  • Design, fundraise for, and implement the MSEI student venture fund whenever necessary to support new student ventures.

Faculty Support

  • Coordinate MSEI faculty, the Associate Dean for Faculty, Research, and Impact, and the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs to ensureWikia that courses are taught by highly‑qualified, well‑prepared faculty who are motivated to contribute to program success in and out of the classroom.

  • Assist the MSEI teaching faculty with their instructional needs.

Ideal MSEI PD Candidate

  • Superior work ethic, strong leadership capacity, optimistic attitude, highest integrity.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, humanities, or sciences. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Five years or more of prior working experience in high‑performance organizations with high‑performing teams.

The position’s office will be located at the USF 101 Howard Campus with some meetings and work to take place on the main USF campus and other Bay Area venues.

Full‑time Salary
