Position Summary

The Director, Cardiac Catheterization Labs & Cardiology Programs provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across assigned Hoag Heart & Vascular Institute service lines, including but not limited to:

  • Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs
  • Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) Program
  • OCEMS Cardiovascular Receiving Center
  • Cardiology Scheduling
  • Electrocardiography (ECG) Department

This role is responsible for 24/7 administrative, financial, quality, personnel, and physician-relations oversight to ensure exceptional patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. The Director partners closely with medical, nursing, and hospital leadership to deliver a seamless, patient-centered experience across the continuum of cardiovascular care.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Program Leadership

  • Develops and executes one-year and three-year strategic and business plans aligned with Hoag Heart & Vascular Institute growth objectives.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance existing services, expand market share, and strengthen Hoag’s position as Orange County’s premier cardiovascular destination.
  • Partners with Medical Directors of the Cardiac Cath Labs, ECG, and cardiology programs to advance clinical quality, throughput, and innovation.

Operational Excellence

  • Directs daily operations across Cath/EP Labs, AMI Program, OCEMS Cardiovascular Receiving Center, Cardiology Scheduling, and ECG.
  • Monitors performance metrics, volume trends, patient access, and resource utilization; implements operational improvements to optimize performance.
  • Ensures programs operate in full compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Oversees departmental budgets, productivity, capital planning, and cost-containment strategies.
  • Drives financial performance while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, service quality, and staff engagement.

Quality, Safety & Patient Experience

  • Leads quality improvement initiatives focused on outcomes, patient flow, and clinical excellence.
  • Ensures delivery of compassionate, personalized care consistent with Hoag’s mission and the Heart & Vascular Institute’s brand promise.

Collaboration & Physician Relations

  • Maintains close working relationships with Hospital Administration, Cardiac and Nursing Administration, Corporate Communications, Hoag Foundation, referring physicians, and community partners.
  • Serves as a key liaison between clinical teams and executive leadership to ensure alignment, transparency, and trust.

People Leadership

  • Provides 24/7 leadership oversight for assigned teams, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and professional development.
  • Builds a high-performing, interdisciplinary team focused on clinical excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, BSN, required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years program management experience preferably within an acute healthcare environment required.
  • Master’s degree in Health Care Administration or related field preferred.
  • Program management experience in Cardiac Clinical programs in an acute healthcare environment preferred.

License Required

  • Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nursing in California.
