The American Civil Liberties Union of Florida (ACLU of Florida) seeks a mission-focused, strategic, and results-oriented leader for the newly created position of Deputy Executive Director and Strategy Officer (DEDSO) .
Reporting to Executive Director Bacardi Jackson, the DEDSO will serve as a strategic leader and force multiplier, ensuring operational excellence and driving the organization-knit’s vision forward with measurable impact.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead the full strategic planning lifecycle and champion the organization’s vision in collaboration with the Executive Director, staff, and Board of Directors.
- Operational Excellence: Direct Executive Department operations and internal workflows to ensure cross-functional cohesion, streamlined processes, and high-impact outcomes.
- Executive Effectiveness: Serve as a strategic advisor and surrogate for the Executive Director, amplifying leadership capacity by overseeing high-level projects and representing the Executive Office in critical decision-making forums.
- Governance & Affiliate Relations: Act as a key liaison to the governing board, national office, and other affiliates to cultivate strong relationships and ensure effective communication.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Seven years of management experience, preferably with a track record of increasing leadership or strategic operating responsibility.
- Sectors: Experience from any sector—including non-profit, campaigns, government, or for-profit—is welcome.
