Vice President, US Oncology Marketing role at EMD Serono, Inc.

We are looking for a leader to head the US Marketing Strategy and oversee the US P&L. Reporting to the SVP and Head of Oncology & HIV Franchise, US, you will be a core member of our Commercial Leadership Team, shaping our direction and supporting key strategic decisions.

Your Role

As the senior marketing executive, you will lead annual US revenue and operating plans, secure investments, and drive growth for inline and future launch brands. You will champion the company in oncology, building relationships with patient, advocacy, and clinician communities, and serve as the go‑to expert on emerging US healthcare trends.

Location

Hybrid: Boston, MA. The position requires onsite presence 3 days a week or more as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide subject‑matter expertise to the SVP and Head of Oncology & HIV Franchise, US and brief executive management on market developments.
  • Drive the vision, design, and development of US Marketing capabilities and ensure excellence across the function.
  • Lead the US Commercial Organization’s marketing and brand strategy, aligning across business partners such as Medical, Supply Chain, Corporate Affairs, Legal, and Regulatory.
  • Shape future launch planning and go‑to‑market strategies for the US, advising on product label development and competitive positioning.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop talent in line with business needs and succession goals.
  • Ensure strategies reflect US patients’ voice through insights and stakeholder partnerships.
  • Manage the US P&L, achieving monthly and annual financial goals and continuously improving margin and profitability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Requirements

  • BS/BA in business or related discipline required; advanced degree preferred (e.g., MBA).
  • 10+ years in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, with 7+ years in marketing, sales, or other commercial functions.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience, including 1 year managing multiple functions.
  • Leadership in brand, inline, specialty marketing, and P&L management.
  • Field experience a plus; recent US launch experience in rare disease and/or oncology strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing commercial partnerships and co‑promotions.
  • Track record of successfully building and developing sales, marketing, and related commercial teams.
  • Strong matrix leadership and general management skills.
  • Experience leading teams in high‑growth, fast‑paced environments.
  • Excellent executive presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proactive coaching style, agile mindset, and innovative thinking.
  • Resilient and able to lead through ambiguity.
  • Strong learning agility and strategic, operational mindset.
  • 50% travel required.

Pay Range

$257,000 – $385,600. Additional compensation may include sales or performance‑based bonuses. Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, retirement contributions, and other perquisites.
