Senior Finance Director

Our client is an apparel and fashion manufacturer. They seek a Senior Finance Director to join their Manhattan, NY office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee audit, review, and compilation engagements in accordance with GAAS and GAAP, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with professional standards
• Evaluate internal controls, pinpoint process improvements, and assess financial reporting risks across diverse client industries
• Review financial statements to verify accuracy, completeness, and adherence to federal, state, and industry-specific regulations
• Develop and manage the preparation of individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns while implementing effective tax planning strategies
• Research complex tax and accounting issues, delivering technical insights and strategic recommendations to clients and internal teams
• Represent clients before the IRS and state tax authorities, guiding them through audits, inquiries, and compliance matters
• Coordinate with partners and senior management to align engagement timelines, budgets, and client expectations
• Direct, coach, and support junior accountants to encourage professional growth and ensure consistent, high-quality performance
• Strengthen client relationships through proactive communication, responsive service, and value-added advisory solutions
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving accounting standards, tax laws, and emerging technologies to enhance firm capabilities and client outcomes

Requirements

• 10+ years of accounting/finance experience
• Experience from an industry with tangible goods (consumer products, wholesale, fashion, apparel)
• Combo experience is a plus
• Inventory experience is required
• Understanding of asset-based loans is a plus
• Excellent managerial skills
• CPA is preferred
