Excel Program at Episcopal Academy - Aquatics Director
The Excel Program at The Episcopal Academy seeks a seasonal Aquatics Director to lead and manage the camp's summer aquatics operations (June 8-August 7, 2026), prioritizing the safety and well-being of staff and campers.
Who You Are
Reporting to the Excel Program Director, the Aquatics Director is a confident, safety-focused leader who enjoys working with children and mentoring staff and brings strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to creating a positive, inclusive camp environment.
What You Will Do
- Lead and supervise the lifeguard team throughout the camp season
- Develop weekly schedules and assign staff to swim lessons and lifeguard shifts
- Oversee group swim instruction for children of all ages and skill levels
- Ensure pool safety through supervision, drills, and adherence to all aquatics protocols
- Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and support professional growth
- Communicate health and safety concerns to program leadership
- Collaborate with summer staff and assist with alternative activities during pool closures
- Maintain required documentation and follow all program and aquatics procedures
About You
The ideal candidate for the Aquatics Director will possess the following:
- Available to work a full weekly schedule (typically 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM)
- Red Cross Lifeguard Certified prior to camp start
- Prior experience teaching, coaching, or leading staff
- Experience working with children
- Physically able to perform rescues and lift up to 35 pounds
- Valid driver's license and ability to complete required background checks
