The Senior Database Administrator/Engineer is responsible for designing, administering, and optimizing enterprise database environments supporting mission-critical government systems. This role ensures database performance, availability, security, and data integrity across development, test, and production environments. The Senior DBA/Engineer works closely with application developers, cloud architects, cybersecurity teams, and program leadership to support scalable, secure, and compliant data solutions in accordance with DoD requirements.
This position is contingent upon contract award.
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage relational SQL environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
- Monitor and tune database performance, proactively identifying and resolving capacity, latency, and reliability issues.
- Implement and maintain database security controls, including access management, encryption, auditing, and compliance with DoD security policies.
- Develop and execute backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data protection and continuity of operations.
- Support database deployment, configuration, and sustainment across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with development and DevSecOps teams to support SQL Server integration, schema changes, and release activities.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for complex database issues.
Minimum Education and Qualifications – Senior Level:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Required Experience:
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in SQL Server administration and engineering, including database design, performance tuning, and data security.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS).
- Experience supporting databases in secure or regulated environments, preferably DoD or federal programs.
- Preferred Experience:
- AWS Certified Database – Specialty or equivalent cloud database certification.
