The Assistant Director of Rooms supports the Director of Rooms in leading all Rooms Division operations at Hyatt Regency San Francisco. This role ensures seamless guest experiences, operational excellence, and strong financial performance across Front Office, Housekeeping, and Guest Services in a high-volume, convention-driven urban hotel.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic, guest-focused leader with strong operational knowledge, people leadership skills, and the ability to drive service excellence while managing complex daily operations.
This is a salaried position with compensation ranging from $106,800-$136,200.
Key Responsibilities
Rooms Operations & Guest Experience
- Support daily operations of the Rooms Division, ensuring exceptional guest satisfaction across Front Office, Housekeeping, Bell/Door, and Guest Services.
- Act as Manager on Duty (MOD) as assigned, resolving guest concerns and overseeing hotel operations.
- Ensure consistent execution of Hyatt brand standards, service behaviors, and cleanliness expectations.
- Monitor guest feedback (surveys, online reviews) and implement corrective actions to improve scores.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Rooms Division leadership and hourly colleagues.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and accountable service culture aligned with Hyatt values.
Financial & Productivity Management
- Assist in managing Rooms Division budgets, labor productivity, and cost controls.
- Analyze occupancy, staffing levels, and service demands to optimize scheduling and efficiency.
- Support forecasting and planning in collaboration with Revenue Management and Finance.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with Engineering and Security to maintain guestroom and public area conditions.
- Support emergency preparedness and response procedures.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Revenue Management, Sales & Events, Engineering, Security, and Housekeeping to support group arrivals, VIP guests, and large conventions.
- Participate in daily operations meetings, pre-cons, and leadership briefings.

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive Rooms Division leadership experience in a full-service or luxury hotel.
- Strong operational knowledge of Front Office and Housekeeping.
- Proven leadership experience managing large teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred
- Experience in a large convention or urban hotel.
- Prior Hyatt or comparable luxury brand experience.
Proficiency with hotel systems such as OPERA PMS and labor management platforms.
