Shipping & Receiving Specialist
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing all incoming and outgoing shipments. This includes verifying contents, ensuring proper documentation, maintaining inventory records, and coordinating with internal departments and carriers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Job Functions Receive, inspect, and document incoming shipments for accuracy and damage Pick-up, drop-off, distribute and ship to designated laboratories Generate and manage shipping documents such as BOLs, packing lists, and labels Log samples into laboratory system and maintains accurate inventory Coordinate pickups and deliveries with carriers (e.g., UPS, FedEx, LTL freight) Load and unload trucks using forklifts or pallet jacks Organize and maintain the shipping/receiving area to ensure cleanliness and safety Communicate with purchasing, production, and customer service teams regarding shipment status and discrepancies Assist laboratory and operations personnel in retrieving samples Daily maintenance of departmental company vehicles May require additional administrative duties to be performed as needed. Education and Experience High School diploma or general education degree (GED) 12 years experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations Licenses and Certifications Must have clean driving record and valid drivers' license, at all times Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be able to work with all chemicals, petrochemicals petroleum. Must be able to lift items which can weight up to 50 pounds; climb, bend, reach, without restriction. Must be familiar with data entry. Excellent communication skills (oral and written). High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail and organizational skills Must be able to read and comprehend labels and instructions. Ability to follow instructions independently, with little or no supervision. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to work effectively with individuals from varied professional and cultural backgrounds.
