Job description:
Residential CAD Drafter Responsibilities
Create detailed architectural and construction drawings for residential projects using CAD software
Interpret and translate design concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate technical drawings
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure plans meet client requirements and building codes
Revise and update drawings based on feedback, design changes, or site conditions
Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details for new homes, remodels, and additions
Maintain organized project files and drawing documentation
Assist in preparing permit and construction documents as needed
Ensure all drawings comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations
Coordinate with other team members to resolve design and drafting issues
Support the design team with additional drafting or administrative tasks as required
Residential CAD Drafter Requirements
Associate’s degree or certificate in Drafting, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Proficiency with CAD software (such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar). AutoCAD Architecture experience would be a bonus
Experience drafting residential construction documents preferred
Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, specifications, and building codes
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings
Good organizational and time management skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Familiarity with local building codes and permitting processes is a plus
Willingness to learn new software or drafting techniques as needed
Portfolio of previous drafting work is a plus
