AmeriCorps Opportunity: Community Engagement & Resident Support YWCA Helena

Community Health Corps Montana

Service Term: January 12, 2026 – August 21, 2026 (Full-time; ~40 hrs/week)

Community Health Corps Montana (CHCM) , an AmeriCorps program connecting service-minded individuals with organizations advancing health access and community wellness across the state.

YWCA Helena works to prevent homelessness and provide safe, supportive housing for women and children experiencing instability. Their programs include transitional housing, family advocacy, supervised visitation, SafeExchange services, mental health and substance use treatment, health and wellness education, and resource navigation — all grounded in dignity, compassion, and restoring hope.

About the AmeriCorps Project YWCA Helena is seeking one CHCM AmeriCorps member to strengthen community engagement, volunteer coordination, and resident support services. This role helps YWCA Helena expand its reach, improve resident experience, and enhance the resources available to families transitioning toward stability.

Key Service Activities Community Engagement & Communications

Support the Development & Communications Director with outreach and awareness

Assist in producing social posts, stories, and community updates

Furnishing rooms for new residents

Organizing food and clothing donations

Supporting events and drives

Resident Support & Events

Help staff plan family events such as birthdays, recovery anniversaries, holidays, and celebrations of accomplishments

Data & Engagement Tracking

Manage YWCA engagement information in Bloomerang, a nonprofit CRM

Track participation, volunteer support, and outreach activities

Training & Resource Navigation

Support relevant trainings for program participants

Assist with expanding resource navigation and community referrals

Compassionate, grounded, and people-centered

Strong communication and organizational skills

Comfortable coordinating volunteers and interacting with families

Interested in housing stability, community health, or social services

Approaches service with humility, steadiness, and reliability

Eligibility Requirements

U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident

At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent

Reliable transportation and successful completion of FBI/NSOPW/state background checks

Service Term Commitment

Full-time service (~40 hrs/week), January 12 – August 21, 2026

Minimum of 1,200 total service hours; attendance at all required trainings and meetings

Living allowance:

$1,200 biweekly (pre-tax)

Segal AmeriCorps Education Award:

$5,176.50 upon successful completion
