
Role Summary
Primary lead for site EHS program. Oversee training, development, and maintenance of Safety & Health policy and procedures. This position is responsible for the alignment and execution of the corporate EHS strategy and management of the EHS programs and organization. The jobholder will serve as the lead EHS SME within the enterprise and work with R&D, Operations, Engineering, Sustainability, and Product Safety leadership to ensure continued adoption and refinement of the Company’s EHS culture.
Scope This role is accountable for all elements of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) performance and continuous improvement for Visual Pak. The scope includes all employees and contractors working on behalf of the Company, and covers site activities, warehousing operations, laboratories, and process/track worker’s compensation claims.
Direct Reports None.
Position Responsibilities
Participates in site compliance, review, and audits (internal and external).
Manage site industrial hygiene plans including exposure monitoring/modeling, containment testing, and hearing conservation.
Monitor site-specific EHS leading and lagging indicators.
Practice safe working techniques and reinforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
Delivers on time information when asked to research, investigate, and analyze information.
Participates in environmental, health and safety reviews, routine environmental and safety inspections, and incident investigations where applicable with manufacturing and maintenance personnel including developing and implementing.
Act as EHS Subject Matter Expert, responding to questions from sites and other stakeholders.
Maintain current EHS knowledge and regulations pertaining to The Visual Pak Companies business activity. Provides notice of changes, updates, or financial impact to appropriate management.
Partners with departments about training compliance and safety initiatives.
Provides research on topics and best practices as required.
Identify site-specific circumstances requiring changes to the EHS management system, and enable the successful implementation and sustainability at a local level.
Act as a mentor to other EHS Specialists within the network.
Support plant leadership on capital project planning to align sustainability efforts with capital and engineering projects.

Qualifications Knowledge-Skills-Abilities Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent mix of education and experience.
Advanced certification, additional specialized safety education and/or equivalent work experience desired but not required. These may include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CHI), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM). Certified Ergonomist Assessment Specialist (CEAS).
Bilingual in Spanish, both verbally and written – Preferred.
Experience
At least 5 years working in a manufacturing environment as a safety professional preferred.
Investigate and evaluate root causes for occupational injuries/illnesses, incidents and near misses and maintain relevant data for driving strategic program decisions.
Present strong communication skills with the ability to actively listen to others and communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
Ability to analyze options, solutions, and exercise judgement in making sound decisions.
Partner with Human Resources to file incident reports, follow up on restrictions, and determine light duty/ accommodations as necessary.
Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted and corrective actions implemented to minimize injuries and environmental impact while providing timely, valuable, and cost-effective solutions.
Utilize corporate EHS software systems to support compliance activities and track/report EHS performance metrics and trends.
Basic understanding of ergonomic principles.
Effective time-management skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize.
Respect confidentiality in various formats.
Intellectual curiosity and ability to adapt to changing manufacturing operations.
Technology/Software
Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite.
Verifiable experience with Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Systems.
