Purpose The Portfolio Sales Consultant (SC) implements sales strategies for an approved cardiorenal product line, supporting launch activities for menopause in Primary Care and heart failure (HF) in Hospitals and Community settings. The role drives demand, clinical education, and sales by developing and executing a strategic business plan for Primary Care Physicians, Nephrologists, Endocrinologists, Cardiologists in the Community and Hospital setting. The SC reports to the CVR Area General Manager (AGM) and works closely with Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, and other internal partners to achieve US Pharma outcomes.
Responsibilities
Develop professional relationships with primary care, nephrology, endocrinology, and pharmacy staff within assigned customers.
Drive utilization of approved cardiovascular and menopause products, collaborating with the Customer Squad to generate pull-through within local payers and community HCPs.
Build business relationships within prioritized community customers and key institutional stakeholders (e.g., C and D Suite, Head of Pharmacy, Head of Quality, Cardiologists, Nephrologists).
Manage the P&T committee processes at priority institutions.
Leverage expertise in the diabetes and menopause marketplace, competitors, and cross‑functional activities to anticipate and manage opportunities.
Provide strategic and tactical input to sales leadership and regional account managers.
Develop and implement customer‑specific business plans and communicate insights to stakeholders.
Prioritize coverage of physician specialists based on opportunity and potential.
Understand customer needs and adhere to Bayer ethics and compliance standards.
Anticipate barriers to goal achievement and propose responsible solutions.
Handle customer objections effectively and exceed expectations with the value you bring to physicians.
Share exemplary skills with others in the region in a training capacity when called upon.
Embrace emerging technologies to enhance performance and improve proficiency.
Understand and comply with pharmaceutical industry guidelines and regulations, maintaining high ethical standards.
Qualifications – Required
Bachelor’s degree or 10 years of relevant sales experience in competitive landscapes in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Proven track record of consistent high performance in sales or relevant experience.
Strong track record of developing long‑standing customer relationships.
Deep expertise and understanding of the cardiovascular and/or renal therapeutic area(s).
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership and ethical behavior fostering compliance with company policies and laws.
Ability to meet customer credentialing and safety requirements (e.g., up‑to‑date vaccinations, trainings).
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
Qualifications – Preferred
Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or business‑related field.
5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical sales in primary care and specialty settings.
Experience selling in institutions and clinic settings and navigating the P&T committee process.
In‑depth knowledge of menopause disease states.
Product launch experience.
Experience establishing and pulling through in‑patient to out‑patient protocols.
Strong analytical and computer capabilities.
Virtual sales experience.
Strong local relationships with HCPs and understanding of the local market.
Salary and Benefits Employees can expect a salary between
$120,974.00 – $181,462.00 . Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. This salary range is an estimate and may vary based on location, market data, skills, prior experience, certifications, and other factors.
