Swimming Area Lifeguard Position
This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Field House on Offutt AFB. Responsibilities include continuously observing the swimming area to ensure the safety of patrons. The role ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. The lifeguard rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if needed. They warn swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommend closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, they may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. They ensure that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. They may perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc. Qualifications include an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training and CPR (both child and adult) training. Experience providing practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Satisfactory completion of installation records checks, state and national criminal background checks may be required for positions that provide lifesaving duties for children. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 investigation.
