Summary The Director of Nursing (DON) provides strategic and operational leadership for all nursing services within a skilled nursing/long-term care setting. This role ensures high-quality, resident-centered care while maintaining full compliance with state and federal regulations. The DON leads clinical teams, oversees staffing and budgets, and drives quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities Lead and manage all nursing operations, staffing, and scheduling Recruit, hire, train, and retain nursing staff Develop and manage the nursing department budget Ensure compliance with state, federal, and regulatory standards Lead state and federal survey processes, including Plans of Correction (POC) Oversee QA/CQI programs and clinical performance improvement Manage and audit EMR documentation, reporting, and staff training Ensure comprehensive resident assessments, care plans, and ongoing evaluations Promote resident rights, safety, dignity, and freedom from abuse or neglect Communicate with physicians, residents, and families regarding care needs Oversee antibiotic stewardship initiatives Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records Foster collaboration across departments and promote a positive work culture
Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Bachelor’s degree required Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse Prior Director of Nursing experience in Long Term Care required CPR/BLS certification required Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Knowledge of long-term care regulations and clinical best practices
Benefits & Compensation Pay Range:
$38.00 – $50.50 – $63.00 per hour (Salaried / Exempt) Sign-On Bonus:
$10,000 Relocation Bonus:
