Job DescriptionJob DescriptionFull-Time | Ordained or Non-Ordained Candidates WelcomeCentral Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in Anderson, SC is seeking a full-time Children’s Ministry Director to lead a vibrant, Christ-centered ministry for children from birth through 5th grade. We are open to candidates who are ordained or those with strong leadership in Christian education and children’s faith formation. Who We Are:At Central Presbyterian, our mission is:To reach out and invite people to join in the life and love of Jesus Christ; to nurture them in the Christian faith, and to equip them to love and serve the world.We are a warm, intergenerational congregation in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains—committed to nurturing faith in children and building up families in our community. What We’re Looking For:Primary Responsibilities1. Ministry to Children (birth to fifth grade)Lead an established and comprehensive children’s ministry program aligned with the church’s mission and values.Develop and evaluate faith formation programs for children, including Sunday School, Acolytes, Children’s Church, Childcare, Wednesday After School Program, Children’s music programs, Vacation Bible School, Summer Fun, and seasonal events.Create engaging, age-appropriate programming and faith formation opportunities for children to learn Scripture, prayer, worship, and service.Demonstrate innovation and adaptability to age and ability-specific needs of the children in the church.Integrate children meaningfully into the broader worship life of the congregation (e.g., children’s moments, worship leadership roles, family-friendly services).Ensure all programs reflect the Reformed theological tradition and align with PC (USA) curriculum standards.Coordinate and retain a thriving volunteer base.Develop innovative opportunities for seasonal and community engagement events. 2. Ministry to FamiliesProvide care, support, and spiritual guidance to families in the church with children.Foster strong communication and relationships with families, ensuring they feel supported in their children’s faith journey.Equip and encourage parents as primary faith nurturers through workshops, small groups, and the sharing of resources.Foster intergenerational connections between families and the broader church community.Coordinate family-oriented fellowship events and service opportunities. 3. Volunteer Development and LeadershipRecruit, equip, and support a team of children’s ministry volunteers who share ownership of the ministry.Supervise staff and volunteers involved in children’s ministries (e.g., nursery caregivers, Sunday School teachers, Vacation Bible School leaders), upholding the highest standards of safety protocols and standards.Provide theological grounding and practical guidance to ensure volunteers model faithful leadership.Promote a thriving and nurturing environment that adheres to all child protection policies and background check requirements. 4. Worship LeadershipLead or coordinate children’s messages during Sunday worship service.Assist in planning intergenerational worship experiences. 5. Care and Congregational LifeOffer care to children, families, and others in need, in coordination with the pastoral staff.Support congregational milestones (baptisms, confirmations, dedications, etc.).Attend and participate in Session, committee, and staff meetings as needed. 6. Administrative and Organizational DutiesIn conjunction with the Administrative Committee, develop and manage the children’s and family ministry budget.Maintain program materials, records, and communication with families.Ensure compliance with local, state, and church safety and risk management policies.Collaborate with communications staff to promote ministry activities through newsletters, bulletins, and digital media.Serves as part of the church leadership team, collaborating with other pastors, program staff, and ministry leaders. 7. Collaboration and Mission IntegrationPartner with youth ministry, adult discipleship, and mission teams to create continuity in lifelong faith development.Support and participate in the overall mission and outreach initiatives of the church.Represent the congregation in presbytery events and continuing education related to family ministry. 8.
