Position Summary

The PR Intern – Social Media Content Creator/Photographer supports the University of the Virgin Islands’ communications and marketing efforts by capturing, creating, and publishing visual and written content for official UVI digital platforms. This position focuses on event coverage, student life storytelling, and branded social media content that promotes UVI’s mission, programs, and campus culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Photograph campus events, academic programs, student activities, and special initiatives
  • Assist with creating content for UVI’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok)
  • Support basic video capture for short-form social media content (Reels, Stories, clips)
  • Write short captions and assist with social media scheduling under staff supervision
  • Assist with organizing, labeling, and archiving digital photo assets
  • Maintain brand consistency in all content produced
  • Provide on-site support during university events, as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled UVI student in good academic standing
  • Interest in communications, marketing, journalism, media, or a related field
  • Basic photography skills and familiarity with DSLR or mirrorless cameras
  • Comfortable using social media platforms for content creation
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with photo editing software (Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar)
  • Basic video editing experience
  • Strong attention to detail and creativity
  • Prior campus involvement or event coverage experience
