This position is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for all targeted projects by analyzing project plans, specifications, and proposals. This position works closely with Engineers, Project Managers, Vendors, and Clients to ensure competitive and profitable bidding.

Key Duties and essential functions:

Work Closely to Support Municipal Execution Team (MET) & Storm Water and Treatment Team (SWAT) with transition of awarded projects and quotes.

Comprehend & Digest complex construction plans for all wastewater treatment, municipal, Water Works, and OEM projects.

Negotiate pre-bid and post-bid pricing with Contractors and Vendors.

Cultivate or maintain relationships with Contractors and Vendors.

Collaborating with the Contractors' Estimating team on all bidding projects, especially target projects.

Prepare clear, accurate, and responsible quotes.

On-going product training with current/future vendors.

Pursue the most competitive pricing to provide a more favorable quote.

Consistent monitoring of our SFWS's products/services offerings for the current water market.

Bi-weekly meetings with Upper Management on current & future projects

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Effective communication and negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with the industry or company products/services.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Proven experience in mechanical estimating, preferably in HVAC, plumbing, or piping systems.

Experience working with mechanical contractors or in the construction industry.

Knowledge of local building codes and industry regulations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: Physical Demands:

Primarily works in an office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk using a computer.

Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching to access files or office equipment.

May need to visit construction sites, which can involve walking on uneven terrain, climbing ladders, or standing for extended periods.

Requires visual acuity to review detailed drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.

Occasional lifting of materials, files, or equipment up to 25 pounds.

Typically works in an office environment with standard lighting, temperature control, and minimal noise levels.

May require travel to project sites, contractor offices, or client meetings.

When visiting job sites, exposure to construction-related hazards such as dust, noise, and varying weather conditions may occur.

May experience occasional high-pressure situations when meeting bid deadlines.

Pay range is $25-$33/hour DOE
