Job Description: SALARY: $75,647.95 - $82,540.87 annually Commensurate with experience. Step Salary System to be awarded annually on the anniversary date of hire and would typically start at Step 1. Please note the salary range indicated is firm.

Bargaining Unit: Building and Trades

REPORTS TO: Works under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Building Maintenance - Public Property

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: N/A

Essential Functions

Installs and repairs water pipes and makes necessary connections

Maintains plumbing systems

Repairs and replaces defective and leaky water and drain pipes

Repairs and replaces valves

Replaces faucets, sinks, bubblers, tanks, and fixtures

Replaces gaskets, washers

Opens clogged drains

Attaches pipe assemblies to walls

Assembles, bolts, or solder valves, couplings, pipe sections and other parts

Connects plumbing fixtures to outlets and seals connections

Performs other manual duties related to plumbing work

Performs other Public Property duties as required by the Superintendent of Buildings

Qualifications Education and Experience: High School diploma, valid Massachusetts Driver’s license, Massachusetts Journeyman or Master Plumber’s License required and must have journeyman skill in plumbing. Must have working knowledge of building codes and standard trades practices. Minimum of five (5) years of paid experience in the field of plumbing.

Physical Demands Physical effort is required in daily duties. The employee is frequently required to use hands to operate equipment, walk, stand, sit, speak, hear, reach with hands and arms, balance, crouch, crawl, stoop, and climb. Physical agility is required to access certain pieces of equipment. Stamina is required to work in adverse weather conditions. Required to lift or move items weighing up to sixty pounds. Physical ability to use power tools and drive motor vehicles. Vision requirements include the ability to read routine documents and operate vehicles and equipment.
