The Assistant Recreation Director assists in the planning, development, coordination, and supervision of recreation programs, facilities, and special events for the City of Dellwood. This position supports the Recreation Director in delivering high-quality recreational opportunities that meet the needs of residents of all ages, while ensuring programs are safe, inclusive, and well-organized. The Assistant Recreation Director may act on behalf of the Recreation Director in their absence. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are representative but not all-inclusive: Assist the Recreation Director in planning, organizing, and supervising recreation programs, activities, and special events. Organize, coordinate, and manage youth and adult sports leagues at the Recreation Center , including but not limited to: Football leagues Basketball leagues Redbird Rookies’ baseball league Coordinate league schedules, registrations, team rosters, practices, and games. Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise part-time staff, coaches, officials, and volunteers. Ensure recreation programs comply with City policies, safety standards, and risk management practices. Assist with facility scheduling, setup, and supervision of recreation facilities and fields. Communicate effectively with participants, parents, coaches, and the general public regarding programs and policies. Assist with program promotion, marketing, and community outreach efforts. Support budget preparation and monitor program expenditures and revenues. Assist in maintaining program records, reports, and participation data. Address participant concerns, complaints, and conflicts in a professional and timely manner. Enforce facility rules, program guidelines, and City policies. Perform related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of recreation program planning, youth and adult sports programming, and facility operations. Ability to organize and manage multiple programs and events simultaneously. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including youth, adults, volunteers, and staff. Knowledge of basic budgeting and recordkeeping practices. Ability to handle conflict resolution and problem-solving in a public setting. Proficiency with computers, registration software, and standard office applications. Publication Date/Time: 1/6/2026 12:00 AM Closing Date/Time: Qualifications: Minimum QualificationsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Sports Management, Public Administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.One (1) to three (3) years of experience in recreation programming, sports league coordination, or a related field.Experience working with youth sports programs preferred.Ability to work a flexible part-time schedule, including evenings and weekends.Valid driver’s license. Special Requirements: Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentAbility to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds.Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by program schedules.Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments, including recreation facilities and athletic fields.
