The Role This is for someone that is equal parts analytical and creative with a passion for womenswear.
We're seeking an experienced Merchandising & Planningto lead our product assortment strategy and inventory planning across all channels. This role combines strategic merchandising with analytical planning to drive profitable growth, optimize inventory, and deliver the right product at the right time to our customers. You'll be the key liaison between product development, operations, and sales.
Key Responsibilities Merchandising & Product Strategy
Develop seasonal assortments and linesheets for wholesale partners, including bi-annual presentations to big box retailers
Lead pre-design assortment planning with monthly line lists, style recommendations, and market trend analysis
Define product and customer segmentation and product segmentation strategies to inform influencer marketing, photoshoots, and channel-specific assortments
Deliver quarterly product hindsights and forward-looking product strategies to leadership team
Create quarterly product training guides for retail and wholesale teams on new styles, trends, and segmentation
Own bi-weekly sales planning and company sales report updates with cross-functional presentation to leadership
Manage sales and inventory planning by channel, category, month, and style with detailed product category reporting
Drive GM% and pricing strategy with monthly targets and contribution analysis
Develop and execute pre-season and in-season markdown and promotional calendars
Deliver quarterly sales hindsights with performance analysis and strategic recommendations
Inventory Management & Allocation
Translate sales plans into PO recommendations with unit allocation and size curve optimization
Utilize category planning tools to adjust inventory monthly and inform buy-to-plan decisions
Inform inventory transfers between stores, warehouse, and pop-up locations
Identify and execute off-price and hard markdown opportunities monthly
Access and analyze pre-booking reports for wholesale channel optimization
Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner with design team in weekly in working sessions to align product development with financial goals
Collaborate with marketing on annual promotional calendar, product launches, and content planning
Coordinate with operations on inventory flow, markdown execution, and logistics planning
Serve as primary point of contact for key wholesale account sales reporting and assortment recommendations
Qualifications Required
8+ years of experience in merchandising and/or planning, preferably in premium fashion brands
Proven track record managing multi-channel businesses (retail, wholesale, and/or big-box distribution)
Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in Excel; experience with planning systems and reporting tools
Deep understanding of retail math including GM%, IMU, sell-through, and inventory turn
Experience buying inventory for major retailers
Demonstrated ability to translate data into actionable business strategies
Excellent presentation and communication skills for executive-level stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Business, Fashion Merchandising, or related field
Preferred
Experience in premium apparel categories
Background working with big-box retailers (Dillard's, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, etc.)
Familiarity with off-price channels and markdown optimization
Experience in companies with $10M-$50M revenue range
Knowledge of allocation systems and size curve optimization
