Director of Accounting

is a senior finance leader responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of a large, complex, publicly traded organization at the division level (~$6B in annual revenue). This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and full compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and public company requirements. The

Director of Accounting

leads and develops a high-performing team while partnering closely with executive leadership to support financial strategy, operational excellence, and scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee gross-to-net accounting processes, including rebates, incentives, returns, and chargebacks, ensuring accurate accruals, compliance with revenue recognition standards, and alignment with go-to-market strategies.

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the division’s accounting function within a publicly traded environment

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals supporting a ~$6B revenue division

Oversee all general ledger activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and period-end close processes

Manage capital expenditure reporting, fixed assets accounting, and related reconciliations

Ensure timely, accurate preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP

Maintain strong internal controls and ensure full SOX compliance across the division

Lead internal and external audits, including preparation of audit documentation and remediation of findings

Partner with corporate finance and SEC reporting teams to support quarterly and annual reporting requirements

Lead budgeting activities and contribute to forecasting and long-range financial planning

Perform and oversee financial analysis to support executive-level decision-making

Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and standardization across the accounting function

Implement best practices to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability

Collaborate with senior leadership on financial strategy, operational initiatives, and growth plans

Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders on accounting, controls, and financial risk

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

10+ years of progressive accounting experience within large, complex organizations

5+ years of people leadership experience managing managers and/or senior professionals

Public company accounting experience required

CPA certification strongly preferred

Core Competencies

Proven ability to lead accounting teams at scale within a public company environment

Deep understanding of US GAAP, SOX, and internal controls for large, multi-entity organizations

Strong business acumen with the ability to align accounting strategy to enterprise goals

High accountability for team performance, accuracy, and timely delivery

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Sound judgment, professionalism, and resourcefulness in complex environments

Additional Information

Occasional travel may be required

This role includes direct management of accounting leaders and professionals
