
Senior Strategic Communications Specialist
We are seeking a highly experienced
Senior Strategic Communications Specialist
to support the
F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office (JPO) . This role plays a critical part in shaping and delivering clear, accurate, and effective communications for senior leadership across a wide range of internal and external audiences. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of the Department of Defense environment and excels in high‑visibility, detail‑oriented communications work.

Key Responsibilities In this role, you will support senior leadership by developing and coordinating communications materials intended for external audiences, including Congress, the media, Department of Defense stakeholders, and the public. You will help ensure messaging is consistent, accurate, and aligned with program priorities while maintaining a high standard of quality and professionalism.
You will also provide communications and information support to executive and senior leadership teams, collaborating closely with corporate operations and program staff. This includes reviewing, refining, and validating reports, correspondence, and briefing materials prior to leadership review and signature. A strong emphasis will be placed on quality control, adherence to established processes, and compliance with applicable policies and guidance.
Required Qualifications Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have
at least 10 years of experience
in strategic communications, executive‑level support, or related roles. An
active Secret security clearance
is required. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent writing and editing skills, strong judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, senior‑leader environment.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with or supporting Military Departments, the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), or other DoD organizations is highly desirable. Familiarity with DoD reporting tools, executive correspondence processes, and major defense reports is a strong plus, as is the ability to manage multiple priorities with precision and discretion.
