
Overview
The Program Evaluation Team (PET) is located within the Program Development and Evaluation Branch (PDEB), in the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity Prevention (DNPAO). The Program Evaluation team conducts evaluation activities for DNPAO’s SPAN (State Nutrition and Physical Activity), HOP (High Obesity Program), REACH (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health), GHWIC (Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country), TPWIC (Tribal Practices for Wellness in Indian Country), and TECPHI (Tribal Epidemiology Centers Public Health Infrastructure) programs. The team ensures that DNPAO funded initiatives are implemented effectively, produce meaningful outcomes, and continuously improve, by providing ongoing and on-demand technical assistance to state and local partners to help cooperative agreement recipients apply strong evaluation practices in their public health programs. The Contractor seeks a full-time Evaluation Specialist to supplement the Program Evaluation team by providing expert evaluation support that ensures programs are implemented with fidelity, measured accurately, and continuously improved through data-driven insights.
Responsibilities
May serve as a program evaluator to cooperative agreement partners, providing technical assistance to state and local health agencies receiving CDC funding. Collect and monitor progress and outcome data to evaluate impact of program efforts and ensure alignment with program scope and objectives. Develop, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot data review processes to improve data quality and validity of program data. Create and update/manage dashboards to visualize recipient’s progress on priority indicators. Respond to inquiries received from a range of stakeholders (e.g., recipients, researchers, science partners, decision-makers) in a timely manner. Develop and manage feasible evaluation plans and timelines. Review, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative evaluation data and practice-based evidence. Prepare and deliver internal and external reports and presentations. Serve as a member on division priority strategy workgroups.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s/5 years’ experience; High School/9 years
