Title: Real Estate Accounting Manager / Controller (Property & Development)

Salary: $150K–$160K base + bonus

Why This Opportunity Stands Out:

  • High-impact role with visibility into acquisitions, dispositions, and complex financing transactions

  • Direct interaction with ownership, investors, and lenders on strategic financial decisions

  • Exposure to development, construction, and stabilized assets — not just routine property accounting

  • Opportunity to influence processes, controls, and financial reporting across the portfolio

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review funding requests to investors and lenders; coordinate approvals for reserves and write-offs in accordance with governing agreements

  • Ensure accounting records and financial reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with GAAP (including debt modifications, acquisitions/dispositions, and interest capitalization)

  • Perform general ledger review and analysis; oversee month-end and quarter-end close processes

  • Review and prepare Property/Development Management Fees and Construction Management Fees, ensuring proper calculation, invoicing, and recording

  • Review monthly and quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules in partnership with Property/Project Managers and Accounting teams

  • Research accounting guidance and draft position memos for new or complex transactions

  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with established accounting policies

  • Support Asset Management and Property Management with annual budgets and reconciliations between Argus models and budgets/forecasts

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)

  • Strong background in real estate, development, or construction accounting

  • Experience with complex transactions (debt, acquisitions/dispositions, interest capitalization)

  • Advanced Excel skills; Argus experience a plus

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to partner cross-functionally
