The Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) is a Province in the Anglican Global Communion. A growing denomination fifteen years old, the ACNA includes over 1,000 congregations in North America, with approximately 128,000 members. The mission statement of the ACNA is “to reach North America with the transforming love of Jesus Christ.”
Job Summary The Content and Media Relations Manager will work closely with the Director of Outreach and Development to develop and execute communications strategies that promote the mission, values, and programs of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). This role will serve as the primary point of contact for all of the ACNA’s public relations, media outreach, content creation, and social media, liaising with team leadership as needed to ensure all stakeholders and audiences are equipped with consistent and effective messaging that aligns with the organization’s strategic goals. This role will provide oversight and management of third-party media contractors (e.g. photography, videography, graphic design, etc), develop and coordinate all editorial planning, and oversee all data analytics related to communications KPIs. The Content and Media Relations Manager will support fundraising and events communications as needed.
Responsibilities
Strategic Communications Planning and Execution
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies and tools that positively elevate the ACNA’s visibility, support fundraising goals, promote events, and engage its diverse range of key stakeholders in the Church’s mission across the Province.
Craft targeted messaging to engage volunteers, partners, donors, and other key stakeholders and develop appropriate language and tone for grant reporting and fundraising appeals.
Ensure consistent and effective representation of the ACNA’s brand, values, and messaging across all communication channels, materials, and events.
Develop and manage long-term editorial planning across communications channels.
Write, commission, and develop original content and targeted communications campaigns (re: storytelling, fundraising, events, etc) that support and advance the mission and vision of the ACNA, coordinating with internal and external partners as needed.
Track, measure, and report on the effectiveness of communications strategies and initiatives using analytics tools and other metrics. Adjust strategies based on performance insights.
Media Relations
Develop and manage the ACNA’s press relations by cultivating relationships with local and national religious media.
Manage crisis communications as needed, resourcing internal and external communications professionals with the information and tools needed to effectively report on the ACNA, and securing coverage of its programs and events as needed.
Handle media requests and serve as initial contact for crisis communications.
Content Creation and Cross-Team Coordination
Utilize effective storytelling and communications techniques to create compelling, audience-focused content across a variety of platforms, including website copy, blog posts, newsletters, annual reports, social media posts, and email campaigns, ensuring alignment with the organization’s voice and mission.
Write and distribute press releases, media pitches, and talking points for key stakeholders (including the Archbishop and/or senior staff).
Lead the organization’s social media strategy, including managing platforms and posting schedules, creating engaging content, analyzing performance, and increasing engagement and reach among target audiences.
Support event promotion and communication with ACNA’s Event Planner.
Work closely with the Admin and Ops team to access necessary fundraising data and contact details to support the development of grant proposals and fundraising campaigns.
Coordinate with the Admin and Ops team to align and optimize communications platforms and channels across the ACNA system.
Working Manager
Recruit, manage, and oversee communications work with third-party contractors (e.g. photographers, designers, videographers) to ensure effective and timely delivery.
Lead regular touchpoints with Diocesan Communications Directors (and/or staff) to strengthen two-way communication around ACNA’s strategic objectives and messages.
Lead regular touchpoints with key Ministry Initiative Communications Directors (and/or staff) to strengthen two-way communication around ACNA’s strategic objectives and messages.
Qualifications
Committed to ACNA’s mission and goals; an active member of an ACNA congregation.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
At least 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, ideally within a non-profit or mission-driven organization.
Strong written and verbal communications skills, with experience crafting clear and persuasive messaging and stories for diverse audiences.
Proficiency in social media platforms, digital marketing tools, and website management.
Experience in media relations, including pitching stories, working with journalists, and managing press outreach.
Knowledge of fundraising principles, grant writing, and donor communications.
Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
Proficiency in CRM/CHRM software and Google Workspace Suite.
Familiarity with email marketing platforms and website content management systems; Proficiency in visual content creation tools (e.g. Canva) preferred.
Strong storytelling and copywriting skills with attention to detail.
