This underwriting position focuses on evaluating and servicing a range of risks and exposures while developing strong broker relationships and contributing to customized insurance solutions. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure underwriting excellence and client satisfaction.**Essential Functions:*** Evaluate and underwrite marine risks within assigned authority, ensuring alignment with company guidelines and risk appetite* Analyze submissions, financials, and loss histories to assess risk quality and pricing adequacy* Apply appropriate rating methodologies and ensure compliance with regulatory filings and state requirements* Draft and review policy forms, endorsements, and coverage terms tailored to client needs* Maintain accurate and complete underwriting documentation in accordance with internal and external standards* Monitor portfolio performance, including premium trends, loss ratios, and underwriting results* Collaborate with brokers through meetings and account reviews to strengthen relationships and identify growth opportunities* Partner with Risk Engineering, Claims, and Marketing teams to support retention and new business initiatives* Contribute to special projects and team initiatives as assigned**Qualifications:*** High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred* 3-4 years of insurance industry experience preferred* Prior experience as an Underwriting Assistant or Associate is a plus* Basic understanding of marine insurance principles, policy forms, rating manuals, and regulatory frameworks a plus* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail* Excellent written and verbal communication skills* Effective interpersonal and negotiation abilities* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn internal systems* Commitment to ongoing professional development and insurance education (e.g., AMIM, CPCU)It's an exciting time for our company and a great opportunity to join a financially sound and growing global insurance group!It is the policy of MSIG USA to provide equal employment opportunity (EEO) to all persons regardless of age, color, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, race, religion, creed, gender, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, genetic information, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
