Responsibilities

  • Reporting Relationships – The Executive Director, Tenet Physician Resources (ED-TPR) reports directly to the Senior Director/CEO, Tenet Physician Resources in the respective market. The ED has responsibility for coordinating with the local market unit and TPR leadership the strategy for the TPR service line/business unit, including developing a physician manpower strategy within their assigned market(s). The ED serves as a liaison and point of contact in initiating, managing, and finalizing physician employment transactions. This role requires heavy and regular interaction with the TPR market operations leadership and as needed with TPR leadership.
  • The ED oversees all market operations for physician employed practices in the given TPR service line/business unit and will conduct daily interactions in a way that demonstrates a positive organizational attitude and effectiveness, and models the organization’s Mission, Vision and Values. The ED will manage the Associate Directors of Practice Operations and will oversee the activities in those market practices including physician human resources requirements, customer service, customer satisfaction, financial analysis, Meaningful Use attestations, business information systems, practice profile analysis and compliance with regulatory bodies. The ED manages physician practices to budgeted expectations; ensure practices are operating within Tenet compliance regulations; and ensure all physicians and leaders understand business aspects of their practice. Manages individual physician relationships maintaining balance between meeting pro-forma expectations and keeping the physician positive. Works with physician leadership to identify new lines of business, additional streams of revenue, and new methods to mitigate costs. Ensures regulatory compliance with agencies such as OSHA, CLIA, DHS and others as appropriate.

  • Ensure Collaboration – Includes maintaining visibility in the physician community, promoting collaboration in employment negotiations, and developing physician relationships.
  • Shape Strategy – Includes development and implementation of physician employment strategy, market assessment, and identifying new opportunities.
  • Essentials Duties And Responsibilities – Practice Operations, Service Line Growth, and related activities such as budgeting, revenue cycle, compliance, staff recruitment, capital planning, and development of practice locations.

Qualifications

  • Required: Strong leadership skills and understanding of group processes, teamwork, and site/cost center based management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels within the organization. Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Education/Certifications: An undergraduate degree is required and a graduate degree, ideally in health management, is desirable.
  • Required Background Experience: Five years’ healthcare management level experience in physician practice management, development, acquisitions, recruitment, or related executive area. Knowledge of healthcare organization and administration and of standards and laws applicable to managing issues with physician practices. Knowledge of health care strategic and financial planning. Proven financial management skills with focus on P&L. Ability to build practice forecasts and pro formas, and to develop targeted sales and marketing lists and prospect profiles.
  • Professional Attributes: Strong project management, ability to work cross-functionally, team building, relationship development with physicians and administrators, and proactive communication to address issues before they arise.

Education/Certifications

  • An undergraduate degree is required and a graduate degree, ideally in health management, is desirable.

Required Background Experience

  • Five years’ healthcare management level experience in physician practice management, development, acquisitions, recruitment, or related executive area.
  • Knowledge of healthcare organization and administration and of standards and laws applicable to managing issues with physician practices.
  • Knowledge of health care, strategic and financial planning. Proven financial management skills, with focus on P&L.
  • Knowledge of principles of interactive planning and influence management. Ability to forecast and perform pro formas.
  • Ability to build targeted sales and marketing lists and identify opportunities for practice growth.

Extensive travel ~ 80% within assigned market/geography. Selected candidate will be required to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check.
