Overview
As a Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing daily field operations and ensuring construction projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. Your duties will include: Managing and supervising all on-site construction activities from project start to completion, with a strong focus on public works and municipal underground utility projects. Overseeing installation of underground utilities including water lines, sewer lines, storm drainage, and related infrastructure in accordance with municipal standards and specifications. Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, and labor to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project schedules. Enforcing jobsite safety policies and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and project-specific safety requirements. Reviewing project plans, specifications, utility profiles, and municipal requirements to ensure work is performed according to contract documents. Conducting daily site inspections to monitor workmanship, progress, safety conditions, and trenching/shoring compliance. Communicating regularly with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and municipal representatives to resolve field issues and inspection requirements. Tracking daily progress, manpower, equipment usage, and production quantities and reporting updates to management. Identifying and resolving construction challenges related to underground conflicts, elevations, tie-ins, inspections, and schedule impacts. Ensuring quality control standards are met and coordinating required testing, inspections, and as-built documentation. Qualifications
Heavy underground construction experience (Required): Proven experience supervising underground utility projects, including water line installation. Public works / municipal experience (Required): Demonstrated experience working on municipal infrastructure projects and coordinating with city, county, or state agencies. OSHA 30 Certification (Required): Current OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification. Utility knowledge: Strong understanding of water, sewer, and storm systems, trenching, bedding, backfill, and compaction requirements. Construction supervision: Extensive knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and field operations. Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage crews and subcontractors effectively. Scheduling: Ability to interpret and manage construction schedules and coordinate daily activities accordingly. Safety management: Thorough knowledge of excavation safety, trench protection, and regulatory compliance. Plan reading: Proficiency in reading and interpreting civil drawings, utility plans, and specifications. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Problem-solving: Ability to quickly identify field issues and implement practical solutions. Bluebeam: Familiarity with Bluebeam software for reviewing plans and field documentation (preferred).
