Overview
The City is looking for two friendly, detail-oriented Recreation Services Representatives to help keep programs running smoothly at the Paso Robles Senior Center. These temporary, part-time roles are ideal for individuals who enjoy working with the public and supporting community programs.
Responsibilities
Open and close the Senior Center in support of members and guests.
Oversee the facility and ensure patrons comply to established policies and procedures.
Greet the public and respond to questions regarding programs, schedules, and activities.
Set up and take down chairs, tables, and other equipment for classes, programs, and events.
Oversee patron needs and safety and assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the facility.
Support volunteer receptionists in providing customer service to patrons.
Assist with the planning, scheduling, and implementation of a variety of special events and recreational activities.
Address patron concerns and refer issues to supervisory staff as appropriate.
Relay information between volunteers, instructors, and City staff.
Knowledge of
Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Publisher.
Safe work practices and applicable safety regulations.
Basic custodial and facility maintenance practices.
Proper English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the position.
Techniques for providing a high level of customer service to the public, in person and over the phone.
Ability
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Perform detailed support work accurately, independently, and within established deadlines.
Use initiative and exercise independent judgement within established policy and procedures.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals contacted in the course of the work.
Provide excellent customer service in a professional and courteous manner.
Work effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds and interact with the public in a positive manner.
Compose correspondence, reports, and forms from brief instructions.
Education and Experience Equivalent to graduation from high school and either one year of related experience in senior services, office support, or activity center operations, or participation as an intern in an accredited college or university graduate program.
English/Spanish bilingual and biliterate proficiency, as well as strong customer service experience, are desirable.
Physical Requirements Work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions; frequently requires pushing or pulling; occasionally requires sitting, using hands and kneeling or crawling. This work requires regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force.
