Associates with federal clerkship experience are encouraged to apply. The candidate should be experienced with discovery, brief-writing, and supervising junior associates on legal research and document review; and be willing to be challenged in a positive work environment where senior associates and partners take mentors seriously. Excellent academic credentials and the analytical rigor to grasp the legal intricacies of complex, cross-border disputes are required, as well as a competitive spirit for advocacy. Our Practice Area We represent clients in all stages of domestic and international litigation, before trial, appellate, regulatory and alternative dispute resolution tribunals across the world. As an associate joining our practice, you will be given responsibility for a wide range of important tasks, including supervising legal research, managing aspects of discovery, deposition discovery, expert witness preparation, and participation in contested hearings and trials. The work is demanding but rewarding, with opportunities for learning and development in a collegial environment and access to practice areas such as Antitrust/Competition, International Arbitration, Intellectual Property and Environment & Climate Change. Duties and Accountabilities Help develop litigation strategy for matters ranging from complex commercial litigation, business-tort litigation, internal corporate investigations, governance matters, arbitration-related litigation and arbitration-enforcement litigation Advise clients, including multinational companies, public and private companies, funds, firms, partnerships and individuals in all types of litigation across industries Draft briefs, memoranda, correspondence, examination outlines, and other documents for matters Conduct legal research Participate in and conduct witness interviews, client meetings, and negotiations Analyze evidence to develop facts and strategy Communicate with clients (via telephone, email and in-person) Provide direct assistance to partners and senior lawyers on matters arising in day-to-day provision of legal services Qualifications A Juris Doctor (JD) degree (LLM or foreign equivalent) from an accredited law school Admitted to the Texas bar (or the ability to become admitted) and in good standing 2+ years of Commercial Litigation/law firm experience, with a focus on civil litigation Federal court judicial clerkship Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker Commercial and business awareness Outstanding communication skills Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects Excellent drafting skills Driven by professional growth Responsiveness Strong professional presence Client service focus Team player Strong judgment Proactive, resourceful, takes initiative and a self-starter Fluency in English Location and Reporting This role is based in our Houston office.
