The ED Director assumes responsibility for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in the assigned department(s) on a twenty four hour basis; plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the overall clinical nursing practice and administrative activities, including fiscal, material and human resource management. Participates in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures, maintains open communication with all staff and administrative team to promote improvement in performance, assumes responsibility for the role of administrative supervisor as needed, and provides leadership and support to encourage the optimum development and performance of each staff member. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required -
Registered Nurse Diploma (RN). Preferred - Bachelors (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN). Work Experience
Required:
3 years clinical nurse experience and one year of experience in a hospital environment for position as a manager, supervisor or charge nurse. Emergency Room/ED Experience. Certifications
Required -
Current RN License in the state of practice, BLS. PALS required if employed in area that treats pediatric population. Job Duties
Provides effective leadership to the assigned departments(s) of responsibility. Conducts financial management. Conducts resource management. Participates in activities for professional growth and development. Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned area. Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer, including participation in Interdepartmental and Extracurricular Activities. Other related duties as required.
