Primary Purpose of Position The Communications Manager is responsible for developing, executing, and optimizing AAPACN’s communications across all digital and multimedia channels. This role ensures consistent, engaging, and strategic messaging that supports the organization’s mission, programs, and member engagement.

The Communications Manager supports content creation, campaign execution, website and social media management, and performance analytics. This position collaborates closely with internal teams and external partners to bring communications from concept to completion, manages an integrated editorial and media calendar, and uses data-driven insights to continuously improve effectiveness.

General Requirements This position requires a thorough understanding of marketing, communications, and messaging, as well as strong teamwork skills. This position also requires high level communication skills and a proficiency in technology used to create and manage content, as well as a strong comfort level with new and evolving technology.

Decision-making:

The decisions made are at a defined level and are based on existing policies and procedures. Some autonomy with decisions is expected and encouraged. The manager will work closely with the director to alter existing operations as needed. Decisions made may affect budgets and operating expenses.

Complexity:

This position will require good problem-solving, analysis, and knowledgeable judgment based on experience or research. Working knowledge of multi-channel communications is essential to provide member and internal staff support.

Authority:

This position is that of an individual contributor.

Essential Duties

Content Creation & Campaign Execution (30%)

Website & Media Management (30%)

Multimedia Platform & Channel Management (30%)

Analytics, Reporting, & Optimization (10%)

Specific Duties Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Serve as a key communications partner to internal teams, program staff, and external partners to plan, coordinate, and execute communications across AAPACN

Content Creation & Campaign Execution

Develop and publish high-quality, audience-focused content for digital platforms, including the AAPACN website, blogs, newsletters, email campaigns, social media, and marketing materials

Translate organizational priorities, programs, and initiatives into clear, compelling messaging

Execute integrated communications campaigns that support marketing, membership, education, and engagement goals

Website & Media Management

Manage day-to-day content updates, layout changes, and maintenance of the AAPACN website

Publish and maintain accurate, up-to-date content for programs, events, and initiatives

Plan, manage, and maintain editorial and content calendars to ensure deadlines are met and brand consistency is upheld

Create, schedule, and manage social media content across platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn

Monitor social media channels, respond as appropriate, and elevate issues requiring follow-up

Monitor AAPACN presence in the media

Manage paid/promoted social media content (e.g., review ads, track spend and performance)

Multimedia Platform & Channel Management

Manage AAPACN’s presence across all multimedia platforms, including website, email marketing systems, social media, and learning platforms

Optimize content for platform-specific performance, accessibility, and audience engagement

Collaborate with internal teams to support campaigns, educational offerings, and organizational initiatives

Ensure messaging alignment and brand consistency across all channels

Analytics, Reporting & Optimization

Track and analyze performance metrics across digital and multimedia platforms

Prepare regular reports on content performance, engagement, and audience growth

Apply data-driven insights to refine content strategy and improve communications effectiveness

Other Duties

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in communications, marketing, or brand management, within healthcare industry recommended

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)

Working knowledge of Google Analytics, Hootsuite, ClickDimensions, WordPress, and/or similar platforms

Comfort with and willingness to learn new technologies, platforms, and systems

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Strong customer service mindset for internal and external stakeholders

Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team

Proven ability to build strong working relationships with members, volunteers, and staff

Working Conditions

Fully remote position

Standard work schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week

Prolonged periods of computer-based work

Occasional travel (less than 10%)
