Overview The Resident Services Director is responsible for the administration of nursing services. The Director directs, plans, and coordinates services activities of professional nursing and auxiliary nursing personnel in rendering resident care. The Director interprets policy and regulations for all nursing personnel and ensures compliance. The Director analyzes and evaluates nursing and related services rendered to ensure the quality of resident care. The Director assumes primary responsibility for providing oversight of the resident health care needs, including the overall medication delivery system and the coordination of in‑service training for the Resident Care Services Department. The Director contributes directly and positively to the team’s approach to quality resident care by attending to and assisting with a variety of physical, emotional and social needs to help residents maintain their highest level of independence possible.

Provides nursing services to residents.
Resident teaching
Wellness counseling
Health promotion
Disease prevention
Provision of care and services to residents whose conditions are chronic and stable
Verifying residents’ medication regimen with physicians or health care practitioners for residents who require supervision
Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, hygiene and mobility
Aware and knowledgeable of the federal and state laws and regulations regarding assisted living/memory care and the regulations of the state’s nursing commission; ensures and maintains regulatory compliance.
Facilitates the overall coordination and management of care and services for residents and provides supervision of the Resident Services Department through:
Move‑in Process
Pre‑move‑in assessments, review of paperwork and initial service plan development
Assessment and service plan
Identify needs for additional assessment, health monitoring or other coordination of care needs
Service plan review process
Coordinate resident health care in collaboration with residents, families and outside health care agencies, including referral when indicated
Conduct regular service plan reviews with resident families, including meetings with responsible parties and appropriate staff whenever changes in care levels occur
Staff training, education and supervision
Coordinate and participate in initial job‑specific orientation and training through routine review of training documents, in accordance with policies and procedures
Coordinate and conduct continuing training and education on a regular basis, as identified through routine auditing
Review documentation and communication of Resident Care Services associates
Supervise assigned personnel in the delivery of nursing services and assistance with activities
Proper, accurate documentation
Delegation
Provide RN and LPN delegation in accordance with state regulations and community policy
Available after‑hours for issues related to current residents’ needs; may be required to come into the community or conduct off‑site assessment at these times
Infection control
Maintain compliance with community policies on immunizations, infection control and infectious disease management
Move out/discontinuation of services
Assist residents who no longer require services
Quality assurance
Complete routine auditing of all resident care systems, in accordance with resident care services review schedule and other QA tools
Responsible for monthly Resident Care Service staffing schedule. Available after‑hours, on‑call, related to Resident Care.
Responsible for meeting monthly budget targets, monetary and labor hours, with any variances discussed with the Executive Director.
Participate in other Resident Care Services and community‑related duties, as assigned by the Executive Director.
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification
Must be a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with a valid Massachusetts license.
Must have a Massachusetts license in good standing.
Experience and passion in working with seniors.
Able to perform tasks which may be physically demanding such as pushing, bending and lifting up to 60 lb.
Ability to maintain positive working relationships with residents, their families, peers and other staff members.
In good physical and emotional health and free of communicable diseases.
