OUR OPENING Journey Construction is seeking a

Senior Preconstruction Manager

to join our team in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In this leadership role, you'll set projects up for success by guiding the preconstruction team, partnering with clients and designers, and providing strategic oversight from concept through final pricing.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO AS A SENIOR PRECONSTRUCTION MANAGER?

Lead and mentor the preconstruction team across multiple projects

Oversee estimating, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and risk assessment

Partner with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners to align scope, cost, and schedule

Serve as the primary client contact during preconstruction

Drive value analysis and alternative solutions considering cost, schedule, and lifecycle impacts

Lead project interviews and preconstruction strategy discussions

Identify project risks early and develop mitigation strategies

Continuously improve preconstruction processes and best practices

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION NEEDED

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field

8-15 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or project management

Proven experience leading teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES NEEDED

Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills

Deep understanding of construction costs, schedules, and constructability

Ability to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations

Experience collaborating with internal teams and external partners

Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Office, Ediphi, PlanSwift, Togal.AI, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and BuildingConnected

Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and a team-first mindset
