Wounded Warrior Homes is seeking a Social Media Marketing Expert who understands how to tell meaningful stories, grow engaged communities, and support fundraising efforts through strategic digital marketing. As a volunteer you will help Wounded Warrior Homes reach more veterans—especially women veterans—who need housing support, mental health resources, and a strong sense of community. By strengthening their outreach and storytelling, they can connect veterans to critical services while increasing donor and volunteer support that sustains their mission.
Overview
The Social Media Marketing Expert will lead Wounded Warrior Homes’ social media presence and digital storytelling. This role is responsible for developing and executing social media and content strategies that increase awareness, donor engagement, volunteer involvement, and community support. This position requires a balance of empathy, strategy, and execution—ensuring their message is communicated with respect, authenticity, and purpose. Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a social media strategy aligned with Wounded Warrior Homes’ mission, programs, and fundraising goals. Plan and manage content calendars for platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and YouTube. Support major campaigns such as holiday giving, fundraising initiatives, events, and veteran-focused awareness efforts. Content Creation & Storytelling: Write compelling, mission-aligned social media posts that highlight veteran stories, program impact, events, and donor appreciation. Create and edit short-form and long-form video content (Reels, TikTok, X, Shorts, testimonials, event recaps). Ensure all content reflects trauma-informed, respectful storytelling practices. Email & Newsletter Marketing: Write and design newsletters and email campaigns to support fundraising, awareness, and community engagement; align email content with social media campaigns to create a cohesive donor and supporter journey. Community Engagement & Growth: Engage with followers, supporters, and community partners through comments, messages, and social interactions; support volunteer recruitment and donor outreach through organic social content; collaborate with internal team members and partners to amplify reach. Analytics & Performance Tracking: Monitor key performance metrics including engagement, follower growth, website traffic, and donation-related activity; provide regular reporting with insights and recommendations for optimization. Time Commitment:
15 hours per week. This opportunity takes place remotely with a monthly in-person meeting. The Social Media Expert volunteer is expected to attend in-person events to capture social media content. Onboarding

The onboarding process for this role takes about 2 hours. Basic information about the organization and role as well as time scheduling will be covered. Required Skills/Experience
At least 1 year of experience in social media marketing or digital marketing. Strong writing and storytelling skills, particularly for cause-driven or nonprofit organizations. Experience creating and editing video content for social platforms. Familiarity with social scheduling and analytics tools (Meta Business Suite, HubSpot, Hootsuite, Later, etc.). Ability to work independently while collaborating with a mission-driven team. Desired Skills/Experience
A volunteer who is a quick learner, tech savvy, and likes to learn. Experience working with nonprofit, veteran, or community-focused organizations. Understanding of fundraising, donor engagement, or cause-based marketing. Knowledge of email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, HubSpot, Constant Contact, etc.). Knowledge of AI is a plus.
