
Field Agronomist II
We are looking to hire multiple Field Agronomists II in the following areas: Nebraska – The Field Agronomist role will be in or near Platte or Madison Counties, NE Minnesota – The Field Agronomist role will be at the North Field Testing Station at Glyndon, MN Iowa – The Field Agronomist role will be in or near Calhoun County, IA Colorado – The Field Agronomist role will be in or near Washington County, CO Responsibilities
Independently conduct and coordinate field studies Apply recommendations from protocol and statistician to design trials that achieve protocol objectives Apply scientific skills to efficiently and accurately collect, analyze, summarize and interpret data, plus influence product positioning both internally and externally Utilize internal and external networks to identify and secure testing sites that meet protocol criteria Collaborate with academics, growers, CROs and other key influencers, as well as with internal cross‑functional teams to conduct field trials and advance BCS interests and products Develop, analyze and provide data on product efficacy and make development recommendations based upon data interpretation Engage in assigned Protocol Delivery Team (PDT) led by ASM’s (Agronomic Solutions Managers) and TPL’s (Technical Product Leads) for developing National Protocols Apply marketplace knowledge to facilitate Local Technical Team (LTT) in the development of Regional Protocols Participate in Product Performance Inquiry Processes & assist when required (e.g., Crop Phyto / Weed Resistance Management (WRM) Serve as a local Bayer contact for University Research Staff Represent Field Solutions regional/national interest on BCS assigned workstream teams Collaborate with commercial facing squads to provide technical support Conduct demonstration trials, present to grower/distributor groups, assist with product inquiries and complaints, transfer data‑based knowledge on BCS products to both internal and external groups, etc. Regulatory Compliance / Stewardship and Safety Learn, apply and adhere to all regulatory and stewardship requirements in field testing program while driving awareness with internal and external stakeholders Coach others, both internally and externally, on potential Stewardship requirements of field trials to ensure our FTO Collaborate with Functional Compliance Lead (FCL) on both internal and external Confined Field Trial (CFT) audits Initiate and manage the execution of external contracts and maintenance of land & warehouse contracts. Safety and Logistics Learn, apply and comply with all safety standards and requirements Effectively forecast / order seed & crop protection products for successful execution of field research program Collab with ASM in planting, spraying, maintaining, and harvesting field trials Effectively manage DOT compliance, trailer inspections as required Accountability: Freedom to Act/Decision‑Making and Impact Follow all safety and compliance (regulatory & DOT) guidelines to maintain our freedom to operate (FTO) as a company Effectively steward company resources (equipment, budget, etc.) Function independently or collaboratively as needed to plan, coordinate, and execute field research trials Actively participate in key groups and activities such as Protocol Delivery Teams (PDT), Knowledge Transfer, Product Performance Inquiry Support; and administering Grant in Aid (GIA) Facilitate the delivery of critical field research data necessary to make product advancement, selection, and commercialization decisions within Bayer Crop Science Collaborate accordingly to organize and summarize data where appropriate to enhance local technical knowledge to grow the sales business Hire and train temp personnel Collaborate with your team/peer or other functions to create a vision that has a holistic impact product outcome Ability to re‑imagine and explore future possibilities within a process/role to foster operational efficiency and decision making with customer centricity Competency to understand, leverage, and scale digital tools to foster operational efficiency and data as an asset Eager to collect different perspectives to achieve better results Collaborate with accountability, managing conflicting perspectives and priorities of different stakeholders and still deliver on time Understanding and partnering with stakeholders both in RD and Commercial homes Learn fast and evolve, giving and receiving feedback Pest Expertise 3 disciplines External Engagement Direct interaction Innovation Input Facilitates and Improves trial design by bringing customer insights Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree Good knowledge of key and secondary crops and pests Good understanding of crop protection and how BCS products fit within the assigned territory Working knowledge in three pest control disciplines Strong communication and human relations skills Advanced analytical and creative skills to identify business opportunities Able to make recommendations on agronomic components and systems based upon interpretation of trial data Ability to create highly effective presentations and technical information bulletins and be highly effective at communicating that information to both internal and external audiences to influence positive decision making Advanced organizational and time management skills Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Able to obtain and maintain a pesticide applicator certification in the state(s) within the territory Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License Advanced proficiency operating & maintaining research equipment including tractors, sprayers, handbooms, etc. Competency to understand, leverage and scale digital tools to foster operational efficiency and data as an asset Learn fast and evolve, giving and receiving feedback Preferred Qualifications
BS degree with 7+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 5+ years of experience, or a PhD with 3+ years of experience Remuneration and Benefits
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $93,944.80 – $140,917.20. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. EEO Statement
