Overview

The Benefits Director leads the strategy, design, administration, and optimization of all employee benefit programs. This role ensures that offerings are competitive, cost‑effective, compliant with regulations, and aligned with organizational goals. The Benefits Director partners closely with HR leadership, Finance, and external vendors to deliver a best‑in‑class employee experience. Key Responsibilities

Strategic program leadership : Develop and execute a long‑term benefits strategy that supports talent attraction, retention, and organizational culture. Plan design and optimization : Evaluate and enhance health, welfare, retirement, and wellness programs to ensure competitiveness and cost efficiency. Regulatory compliance oversight : Ensure all benefit plans comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, and IRS requirements. Vendor and broker management : Lead RFP processes, negotiate contracts, and manage ongoing relationships with carriers, brokers, and third‑party administrators. Benefits operations management : Oversee day‑to‑day administration, including enrollment, eligibility, billing, and issue resolution. Data analysis and reporting : Use metrics, claims data, and benchmarking to drive decisions and identify opportunities for improvement. Employee communication strategy : Create clear, engaging communication plans to help employees understand and maximize their benefits. Leadership and team development : Manage and mentor benefits staff, fostering a high‑performing, service‑oriented team. Cross‑functional collaboration : Partner with HR, Payroll, Legal, and Finance to ensure seamless integration of benefits with broader people strategies.
