Overview The United States Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association (USCGAAA) seeks a creative communications professional, for the position of Digital Engagement and Marketing Specialist. In support of the Alumni Association’s strategic communications plan, this role is responsible for online outreach through storytelling, brand building, asset creation, and digital engagement. They will provide innovative, timely, high quality internal and external communications via all channels. This entry-level position will enhance our virtual engagement opportunities, social media, podcasting operation, and email marketing through execution of a detailed digital marketing strategy. The USCGAAA is organized as an independent charitable corporation for the purpose of providing services to, and promotion of, fellowship among the alumni of the Coast Guard Academy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Content Creation (including video and photography)

Craft compelling written, graphic, and digital communications through interviews, photography, organization of information, and research for use in media articles, newsletters, website, social media, and advertising materials for internal and external audiences

Create original video content for use on website and social media channels

Use Adobe Creative Suite and Canva to design graphics, email headers, banners and infographics and edit photos as needed for all channels, including interactive digital design

Social Media

Assist Senior Director of Communications & Marketing with planning and executing social media campaigns and posts on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to advance both the culture of philanthropy among USCGA Alumni Association audiences and grow the social media presence and engagement among alumni and donors

Podcasting and Digital Events

Manage the Association’s podcasting studio overseeing the production, editing, and scheduling of podcasting operations in partnership with the VP of Communications & Marketing

Create and execute unique digital engagement programs including webinars and virtual events via Zoom and other social media platforms; work closely with the Alumni Engagement and Development teams to execute their vision for virtual events

Serve as point person for all digital engagements ensuring smooth execution

Website & Digital Marketing

Produce web-optimized content, including copy and graphics, fact-check, edit and proofread digital assets to ensure accuracy and consistent formatting and style

Create all online event registrations, email invitations, and feedback surveys in support of digital engagement programming

Build additional event registration sites and related marketing communications as needed

Edit and create webpages as needed

Assist with implementation of external events

Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or in a related field from an accredited college or university

One or more years of experience in digital marketing, web development, non-profit or marketing communications

Technical knowledge and comfort with executing digital webinars and events using various platforms including Zoom, Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, and Microsoft Teams

Video production and editing experience

Strong written and verbal communications skills; proficiency in copy writing and editing

Proficiency and creativity with Adobe Creative Suite software and digital design tools like Canva

Skilled in basic HTML programming and content management systems

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to navigate through database systems and software

Experience managing online content and social media marketing

Ability to promote effective working relationships to accomplish objectives and build team support

Excellent customer service skills; sets high standards and seeks ways to improve service

High organizational skills with strong attention to detail

Innovative self-starter who displays an ability to learn quickly and easily adapts to changing situations – comfortable working under deadlines

Experience researching topics to gain knowledge and understanding when information gaps exist

Experience planning and carrying out projects to meet objectives and deadlines

Enthusiasm for the Coast Guard Academy and USCGA Alumni Association missions and a willingness to learn more about their distinctive histories

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

Fund raising or higher education experience

Working knowledge of CSS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidate must be able to sit for long periods of time while using a computer mouse, keyboard and telephone

Candidate must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time during alumni events

Candidate must be able to lift 10-20lbs occasionally

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Candidate must be able to successfully pass a background check

Salary range $55,000 - $65,000 and is commensurate with experience
