Abound Health NJ is seeking a Program Director to join our leadership team in New Jersey.

In this role, you will report to the Executive Director. The Program Director oversees day-to-day operations of New Jersey I/DD waiver services, leads and supports Care Managers and administrative staff, and ensures high-quality service delivery aligned with Abound Health NJ’s mission, vision, and core values. This position plays a key role in compliance, quality assurance, community relationships, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Hire, mentor, supervise, and evaluate Care Managers and Team Support Specialists

Address performance concerns, including disciplinary actions and terminations when necessary

Ensure team adherence to Abound Health NJ policies, procedures, and meeting rhythms

Lead internal quality processes, including self-inspections, peer reviews, and documentation

Maintain compliance with Medicaid, DDD, HIPAA, and organizational standards

Oversee waiver program operations and collaborate with centralized/shared services teams

Represent Abound Health NJ at provider fairs, job fairs, council meetings, and community events

Ensure Quality Assurance requirements are met, including grievance follow-up and documentation

Oversee incident reporting and conduct investigations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation

Ensure staff training is completed and meets organizational requirements

Foster strong relationships with clients, families, DSPs, support coordinators, and DDD

Track staff time (PTO, flex, comp), complete payroll adjustments, and maintain required records

Promote a positive, growth-oriented work environment aligned with mission, vision, and values

Qualifications

Strong leadership, supervisory, and coaching skills

Ability to manage complex operations with accuracy, organization, and attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain effective under pressure

Experience with ISP implementation and understanding of New Jersey I/DD programs

Knowledge of Medicaid and third-party billing requirements

Ability to build strong relationships with staff, families, and community partners

High integrity, professionalism, and alignment with Abound Health NJ’s core values

Education

Master’s degree + 2 years of professional experience supporting individuals with ID/autism

Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of professional experience supporting individuals with ID/autism

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

At least 18 years of age

Valid driver’s license and safe driving record

Clear background checks (Criminal, NJ State Police, FBI if required, SAM, MEDI Check, LEIE, Sex Offender Registry, Driving Record)

No substantiated findings of abuse or neglect

Reliable transportation with current insurance, registration, and inspection

The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between $70k – $90k. Base pay is determined by factors such as experience, work location, job-related skills, and education. Total compensation may include additional forms of pay.
