The
Director of Mortgage Sales and Operations
is responsible for all mortgage lending activities including 1-4 family and interim 1-4 family construction loans. The individual develops mortgage lending policies and procedures for approval by designated EVP, Loan Committee, Managing Executives and Directors as defined by bank policy. The individual may review and approve mortgage applications within defined final authority levels. The individual also determines interest rate schedules, and manages all aspects of the secondary market relationships. Additionally, the individual guides and directs activities of subordinate under his/her immediate control.
Directs sales team and participates in business develop activities to make and service a broad scope of mortgage, real estate, and construction loans
Oversees the activities of the mortgage support functions including processing, underwriting, and loan closing and secondary market sales
Coordinates implementation and enhancement of operational systems and procedures and with other operational areas of the bank which book and service mortgage loan products
Manages growth through a strategic vision to meet or exceed established goals
Ensures a safe, sound and profitable loan portfolio is maintained
Assures other business units with the bank comply with all regulatory governance applicable to the products managed by the business unit; coordinates with the Audit/Compliance divisions and Loan Review for audits and reporting
Negotiates secondary market and investor contracts for mortgage sales
Position subject to SAFE Act registration requirements
May require work on physical bank premises
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational/work experience
10+ years in a leadership role in the mortgage business from a bank, mortgage company or credit union; experience to create and implement a strategic plan; working with portfolio, secondary market and government loan programs; mortgage loan origination software experience such as Ellie Mae Encompass; position requires registration with the National Mortgage Licensing & Registry (NMLS)
Preferred: Experience in building both inside and outside Mortgage Sales Teams
Skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and MS Word; basic keyboarding and calculator skills; must be able to do complex math and carry out complex instructions
Travel to a variety of locations to perform work and/or attend meeting as required
Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week too perform the essential functions of the position
Lifting in an office setting may be required up to 30lbs.
