You can review the additional job description section on postings for documents that may be required.* Prior to submitting your application, please review and update (if necessary) the information in your candidate profile as it will transfer to your application.## Job Title:Corporate Business Development Consultant## Department:Arts and Sciences | Office of Industry Partnerships and Research CollaborationsUnder the direction of the Director, Office of Industry Partnerships and Commercialization in the College of Arts and Sciences, this position leads the strategy to establish and cultivate comprehensive, complex relationships with companies of high impact and mutual value through the identification of new business opportunities, supporting student engagement initiatives, developing opportunities for research and grant support, and expanding experiential learning experiences. Through these efforts, driving activity to career services, increases research collaborations and student opportunities for engagement, promotes innovation and entrepreneurship, increases alumni engagement, and creates new pathways for philanthropy by providing experienced relationship management that increases the potential for success.Works with a high degree of autonomy to build and maintain strong internal and external networks, manage industry outreach activities, and partner with professional organizations both within Ohio as well as with national organizations. Provides expert guidance to corporate partners to maximize impact by investigating their goals, needs, and strategies, offering solutions that leverage Ohio State’s strengths to address their specific needs and add value to both the company and the college. Understands the company’s goals and strategies to articulate opportunities to maximize value beyond immediate needs. Partners with the Director, Office of Industry Partnerships and Commercialization to establish master research agreements and testing and service agreements, generate sponsored research projects, identify corporate partners for joint grant and workforce development initiatives, increase the number of full-time employment and experiential learning opportunities, provide Advancement with additional philanthropic opportunities, co-manage college level alumni commercialization committees and alumni volunteers who mentor faculty regarding the commercialization of research, and attends and contributes to university and college level committees and programs designed to increase industry engagement. Collaborates with college leadership and the leadership of the Technology Commercialization Office, Keenan Center of Entrepreneurship, Advancement, and Corporate Relations to ensure that ASC has a voice and presence in the corporate engagement ecosystem and the students and faculty are fully supported. Continually evaluates efforts and optimizes for success.Required: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or relevant field. At least six years of experience in business development or university research developing, cultivating, and leading relationships is required. Proven ability to identify, develop, and foster collaborative relationships with industry in a research university setting. Experience working with faculty and researchers to generate interest and activity in industry engagement. Deep expertise and knowledge in developing high-value industry-university partnerships; ability to facilitate opportunities for engagement between industry partners and faculty, students, and other units at the university. Metrics and results driven. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively toward goals in a complex environment with multiple and changing demands.
