The Edward Jones Generations® team provides an end-to-end, high net worth client experience by partnering with our branch teams to provide ongoing client services including holistic financial planning, tax and estate planning services via trusted third parties, plan implementation via expanding sets of Edward Jones products and services, and ongoing reporting and support. Senior Estate Strategists leverage the extensive resources of our home office and external partnerships to serve HNW clients with complex needs. What You Will Do
Associate Tax Strategists leverage the resources of our home office and external third-party partnerships to serve HNW clients with complex needs in the following ways: Serve as a tax planning expert in partnership with the Senior Tax Strategists to uncover, understand, and articulate tax planning needs. Partner with various internal stakeholders and service providers to bring forward holistic strategies and solutions to meet client goals. Leverage the firm’s financial planning tools to help clients define their financial goals and identify tax planning opportunities. Review HNW client tax returns and identify opportunities to implement strategies aligned with client goals. Translate complex planning strategies into explanations clients can understand (verbal and written), including education and trade-offs for each proposed strategy.
Additional Responsibilities include: Support Senior Tax Strategists and partner with home office and third-party experts to deliver high-quality advice, planning, products, and services (APPS) to meet HNW clients’ wealth management and tax planning needs. Serve as a tax planning subject matter expert. Demonstrate the ability to understand how upcoming changes in legislation and regulatory environments may impact HNW tax planning and proposed client strategies. Support the implementation of tax planning strategies and recommendations. Communicate at an appropriate technical level with financial advisors, HNW team, and clients to understand client needs, document client goals, articulate tax planning strategies and recommendations, identify expertise needed, and build relationships. Facilitate the timely creation of tax planning deliverables including tax return reviews and scenario modeling. Contribute to key strategic initiatives across Wealth Management Advice & Solutions (WMAS) to support our HNW strategy and team in collaboration with stakeholders. What Experience You Need
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Law required CPA or Masters of Taxation required Series 7 and 66 required within 6 months of hire Insurance license required within 6 months of hire CFP® preferred or obtained per firm policy 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry preferred Direct client service experience as a member of a HNW client-facing professional team required Understanding of Financial Advisor and Branch Team Support processes including Core Wealth, Banking, and Financial Planning offerings Ability to interpret and leverage firm guidance to support the branch in creating tailored solutions Proficiency with financial planning software or tools and interpreting results Deep understanding of financial planning concepts and application Deep expertise in complex estate planning strategies (e.g., SLATs, ILITs, GSTT, generational gift planning, QPRTs) and ability to explain and implement these strategies for HNW clients Ability to review client tax returns, gift/estate tax returns, personal financial statements, and other documents to identify opportunities Ability to assess legislative/regulatory changes affecting HNW tax/legacy planning and support related strategies What Could Set You Apart
Deep expertise in complex estate planning for high-net-worth clients Strong presentation and communication skills Personal initiative and ability to collaborate and build relationships Ability to lead small groups and present findings clearly Ability to lead a client meeting with multiple professionals Ability to understand changes in tax laws and regulatory changes impacting HNW planning Candidates that live within a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office four days per week effective June 1, 2026. Before June 1, 2026, candidates within commutable distance are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday. Current INTERNAL home-based associates: If selected and accepted, you may retain your home-based status.
