Overview This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.

We're looking for a skilled volunteer who can help us update and improve the ads and social media tiles we've been using to promote our 8 Trust Indicators (https://thetrustproject.org/trust-indicators/), which help people confidently choose trustworthy news. The ads, which run in multiple languages, carry simple, compelling messages about characteristics of trustworthy news and point people to our learning page. We would like to expand the number of ad/tile options, update the messages as needed, change out the images and update their look overall. With honest news is rapidly losing ground to falsehoods circulating on deceptive “news” sites, search engines and social media, these ads are a very important way to help people cut through the noise and get information they can act on. We invite you to apply your creativity and expertise to design and develop the most effective ads possible, while keeping our brand identity.

Responsibilities

Update and improve the ads and social media tiles used to promote the 8 Trust Indicators.

Expand the number of ad/tile options and update messages as needed.

Change out images and update the overall look of the ads.

Collaborate with two team members, including a project manager, and participate in the design process.

Support usage of ads and tiles in multiple contexts, including sharing with about 300 news organizations globally and deployment in the #Checkthe8 campaign; ads can be used in training and curriculum materials.

Qualifications

We are looking for a skilled volunteer with creativity and design expertise.

Familiarity with the design process and the ability to receive timely feedback and approval on designs.

Ability to work with a small team and adapt ads for multilingual contexts.
